Watoo x This show from last week was a trip down memory lane for us – encompassing many older classics and mixed back to back it was a chance to get back in touch with the music that made us fall in love the the ’step in the first place. It’s been as much fun listening back as it was mixing it. Hope you enjoy! Hey guys, after a long hiatus we’re back and still rocking strong with 2 new mixes for the new year. First up is our own Meganesh providing a heavy heavy selection. This mix represents everything that is good with dubstep with tunes that work just as well at home as they do on the floor, seamlessly blended and mixed creating a real solid groove throughout the mix. Fantastic stuff. Next up is DJ Cache on a very different dubstep tip. This is a wild mix, raw and unrestrained – full of turn table trickery and ballsy mixing. It’s varied and musical, goes from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again. If you appreciate fun and humour in your music check it out. If you’re in Manchester this Friday get yourself down to Saki Bar for a real treat. With our friend and fellow dubstep warrior Unbalanced Jack leaving us to travel the world we thought we celebrate by linking up with Manchester’s most celebrated underground night Drum Music. Here’s a very special show from last Tuesday. A real journey in the mix with some real emotional peaks. Being a DJ type person with lots of talented DJ type friends I’m often privy to some of the wonderful music they create/mix/blend, it seems rather selfish to keep it to myself so I thought I’d share the best of what I hear, here. The first mix of the week is something really special. DJ Cache brings us a blend of twisted electronica that takes us seamlessly through 76 minutes of funk influenced electronica. Starting sub 100bpm and taking gradually up to 140bpm+ this is a mixing masterclass of the highest order, with exceptionally musical edge. The beats stumble, they stagger but they never break down and always stay true to the vein of funk that runs throughout the mix holding it all together.
